How do Diaphragm Pumps Work?

Air-operated double diaphragm pumps (AODD) provide one of the most flexible and easy pumping solutions, making them an excellent tool for handling a very large range of fluids.

What makes the pump so versatile? 

The positive displacement working principle of reciprocating diaphragms creates a temporary chamber to both 'draw' and then 'push' the fluid. This allows fluids of 1-25,000cPs to be pumped (depending on inlet diameter) and with an S.G. of up to 1.8. Example fluids range from water to liquid chocolate, solvents, acids, food containing solids and toiletries, creams and gels.

As the fluid is passed through a flow path without encountering any rotating mechanisms or intricate components, a Verderair pump can transfer an abrasive slurry, sticky syrups, corrosive chemicals, flammable fluids and even small solids, in some cases using the same pump! As there is no requirement for the pump to use the media as lubrication or cooling as part of the working principle the pump can run-dry and self-prime without damage.
