AODD application Somerset brewery UK

The application

A local brewery in Somerset needed a hygienic pump for their brewing process. They contact several potential suppliers to help with their application. The process required a 1.5” diaphragm pump apply additional pressure inline with their existing system to fill kegs and Arlington containers. The customer felt this would speed up the process and liked the fact that with air-operated diaphragm pumps the pressure of the vessel is set and stops when this level is reached. The pump needed to be suitable for harsh conditions and be safe to handle chemicals such as peracetic acid and of course beer. It also needed to be temperature resistant to 99 degrees.

The solution

After their own research, the brewery contacted us and were quickly directed to Gareth Jones, technical sales engineer for the South West. Following a comprehensive site visit and discussion, the Verderair VA-H40 was selected as the ideal pump for the application. The VA industrial range really does set the benchmark for air diaphragm pumps. The range features fast-acting air valve technology, which eliminates waste air, using all the air the move the fluid. The air is used efficiently, reducing the total about of air consumption and subsequently reducing the energy costs associated with the pump. The VA provides bolted chambers for safe operation when pumping chemically aggressive and abrasive media.

The result

Against fierce competition from other suppliers, the customer selected to work with Gareth and Verder due to his clear communication and excellent knowledge. By looking at the overall process and where pumps can provide a clear benefit directly to the customer, we were able to work with the brewery to increase the efficiency of their existing process.

The Verderair range offers a series of diaphragm pumps which vary in material depending on the application and can be found across many industries.
